About Homelore
Homelore is for people moving to Kuala Lumpur from abroad who want to know a building before they commit to it. We sell nothing, list nothing and take nothing from developers or agents.
Why we built it
We are making the move ourselves. Choosing a home in a city you do not know, from the other side of the world, is hard: the brochure and the listing agent tell you what they need you to hear, and the things that matter most, how a building has aged, how it is run, what living there is really like, are the hardest to find out from a distance. We built the guide we wanted for our own family.
Who we are
Homelore was founded by a team from Improbable, PlayStation and Couchbase, with more than twenty years of building technology that millions of people depend on. Between us, that covers:
- global infrastructure, platform operations and security at Improbable, the London deep-technology company behind large-scale multiplayer and virtual-world platforms;
- an AI commerce platform built from zero to millions of shoppers worldwide, backed by more than £35m of investment;
- the infrastructure behind PlayStation Network and PlayStation Now;
- enterprise technology at Couchbase, the cloud database company, through rapid international growth.
What that means for you
- Independent. No building, developer or agent pays to appear here, and none can pay to change what we say.
- Candid. We tell you what we would tell our own family, the good and the bad, and we say nothing we cannot stand behind.
- Careful with your data. You can read everything without an account, and we run no advertising or tracking.
